|The National Coalition for Promoting Physical Activity (NCPPA) was formed to unite the strengths of public, private and industry efforts into a collaborative partnership to inspire Americans to lead physically active lifestyles to enhance their health and quality of life. To help spread the good word about the importance of physical activity and truly make the NCPPA a nationwide program, state coalitions have been formed in nearly all 50 states. The State Coalitions are the key to achievement at the grassroots level, with State Coalitions being provided a range of tools, reports, alerts, and program options for effective action at the state and community levels.
Through the dedicated volunteer efforts of representatives from four of the lead organizations, American College of Sports Medicine (managing organization), American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD), American Heart Association (AHA), and the Association for Worksite Health Promotion (AWHP), state coalition chairpersons were selected earlier this year. These chairpersons are now in the process of selecting their co-chairs, district directors and representatives (volunteers from their congressional districts) to round out their state coalition teams.
