Dr. Jack Groppel, recently appointed to second term as National Spokesperson for the CEO Pledge for Physical Activity, announces the 250th signee on “Casual Fitness Day” at 2014 HERO Forum
Washington, DC – October 3, 2014 – The National Coalition for Promoting Physical Activity (NCPPA) today announced that Ana Dutra, CEO of the Executives’ Club of Chicago, is the 250th business leader to sign the CEO Pledge, a national campaign aimed at encouraging every CEO in the United States to recognize physical activity as an important driver of employee health and business performance. In addition, NCPPA also appointed Jack Groppel, Ph.D., Co-Founder of the Johnson & Johnson Human Performance Institute, to a second consecutive term as national spokesperson for the CEO Pledge. Both announcements were made at the 2014 HERO Forum from the Health Enhancement Research Organization in San Diego.
“As a triathlete, I am a big proponent of exercise as a preventive health measure and strongly believe that every leader is accountable for promoting the health and wellness of their employees,” said Ana Dutra. “With healthcare costs spiraling out of control, wellness and prevention have become strategic business imperatives – in addition to creating a healthier, happier and more productive workforce, these initiatives directly impact the bottom line. The Club is committed to serving as a role model for our members and colleagues.”
“We are excited to announce Ana Dutra as our 250th business leader to sign the CEO Pledge,” said Scott Goudeseune, President of the NCPPA Board of Directors and CEO/President of the American Council on Exercise. “Ana and the Executives’ Club of Chicago exemplify the type of leadership that will help the CEO Pledge achieve our goals. We are also so pleased that Dr. Groppel will serve another year as spokesperson for this important program,” said Goudeseune. “Dr. Groppel’s years of research clearly demonstrate the relationship between physical activity and work performance, which makes him the perfect messenger and motivator. I am confident that the list of CEOs who sign will continue to grow under his watch.’’
