American College of Sports Medicine
The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) is the largest sports medicine and exercise science organization in the world. ACSM has more than 20,000 International, National, and Regional Chapter members. They promote and integrate scientific research, education, and practical applications of sports medicine and exercise science to maintain and enhance physical performance, fitness, health, and quality of life.
The American Council on Exercise (ACE) is a nonprofit organization committed to enriching quality of life through safe and effective exercise and physical activity. ACE protects all segments of society against ineffective fitness products, programs and trends through its ongoing public education, outreach and research. They further protect the public by setting certification and continuing education standards for fitness professionals.
The American Heart Association is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is: “Building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.” Heart’s goal is to reduce coronary heart disease, stroke and risk by 25 percent by 2010.
American Physical Therapy Association
The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) is an individual membership professional organization representing more than 100,000 member physical therapists (PTs), physical therapist assistants (PTAs), and students of physical therapy. APTA seeks to transform society by optimizing movement to improve the human experience.
International Health, Racquet, & Sports Club Association
The International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) is the fitness industry’s only global trade association. The MEND Foundation is a national non-profit organization dedicated to inspire children, families and adults to lead and sustain fitter, healthier and happier lives – with a focus on changing the behaviors that cause obesity. MEND stands for Mind, Exercise, Nutrition…Do it! and the MEND Program is the world’s largest evidence-based family weight management program delivered in community settings. Over 15,000 families in 5 countries have already benefited from participating in a MEND Program and in the US, MEND Programs are currently being offered in multiple US states and in partnership with local YMCA’s. MEND’s family-based, multi-component programs meet the recent recommendations of the US Preventive Services Task Force for the prevention and management of child obesity.
MYZONE is a new innovative heart rate based system that uses wireless and cloud technology to accurately and conveniently monitor physical activity. It monitors heart rate, calories and time exercising that converts into MYZONE Effort Points (MEPs), with a focus on rewarding effort rather than fitness. MYZONE enhances enjoyment of physical activity by providing personal, colour-coded guidance and motivational feedback both inside and outside.
National Athletic Trainers’ Association
The National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) is the professional membership association for certified athletic trainers and others who support the athletic training profession. Founded in 1950, the they have grown to more than 30,000 members worldwide today. NATA works to enhance the quality of health care provided by certified athletic trainers and to advance the athletic training profession.
National Physical Activity Society
The National Physical Activity Society (NPAS) is a network of professionals working together to promote physical activity across all sectors of society. The organization originated among state public health professionals and has now expanded to include local public health, academics, nonprofits, and volunteers. NPAS offers monthly webinar trainings with continuing education toward the ACSM/NPAS Physical Activity in Public Health Specialist (PAPHS) credential, which was developed in conjunction with the American College of Sports Medicine. NPAS builds linkages among members and bridges between members and partners. NPAS sees a vision in which physical activity is prioritized, embraced, and promoted for everyone in the United States.
NIRSA: Leaders in Collegiate Recreation
NIRSA comprises and supports leaders in collegiate recreation. As college and university students develop into future leaders, NIRSA members support their learning and growth by fostering lifelong habits of wellbeing. Leadership, teamwork, dedication, and respect are among the many skills exercised by inclusive competition, fitness, and recreation. Since its founding in 1950, NIRSA membership has grown to comprise nearly 4,000 dedicated professionals, students, and businesses, serving an estimated 7.7 million students.

Action for Healthy Kids is a public-private partnership of more than 75 organizations dedicated to promoting school health and fighting childhood obesity, undernourishment and physical inactivity by helping schools become healthier places so kids can live healthier lives. They partner with a legion of dedicated volunteers — teachers, students, moms, dads, school wellness experts and more — from within the ranks of our 80,000+ network to create healthful school changes. After all, everyone has a part to play in ending the nation’s childhood obesity epidemic.
America Walks is the only national organization devoted exclusively to making America a great place to walk. They do this by providing a voice for walking and walkability through federal government affairs, by providing strategy support, training and technical assistance to regional, statewide and local organizations and individuals, and via the Every Body Walk! Collaborative, a national partnership focused on increasing the visibility of walking and cultivating consumer demand for more walkable places.

American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) is the nation’s leading cancer advocacy organization that is working every day to make cancer issues a national priority. They are the nonprofit, nonpartisan advocacy affiliate of the American Cancer Society.
The American Diabetes Association is leading the fight to Stop Diabetes and its deadly consequences and fighting for those affected by diabetes. The Association funds research to prevent, cure and manage diabetes; delivers services to hundreds of communities; provides objective and credible information; and gives voice to those denied their rights because of diabetes. Their mission is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by this disease.

Champions for America’s Future
Champions for America’s Future is a national, bipartisan, membership organization of athletes, coaches and sports administrators who have come together to make sure every child has the best chance to compete in life. They engages sports leaders to advocate for policy investments that advance opportunities for kids to succeed in life. Since childhood obesity is so prevalent in the US, they are interested in promoting evidence-based policies that engage, enable, and encourage kids to be active both in school and out-of-school.

The Institute of Lifestyle Medicine (ILM) is at the forefront of a broad-based collaborative effort to transform the practice of medicine through lifestyle medicine. This critical transformation is motivated by research indicating that modifiable behaviors — especially physical inactivity and unhealthy eating — are major drivers of death, disease, and healthcare costs. While the medical profession is generally aware of this, there has yet to be a systematic and comprehensive effort to incorporate lifestyle medicine into standard practice.
