posted 2012-04-13

New Memorandum of Understanding Refines Organizational Coordination Effort

The National Coalition for Promoting Physical Activity and the National Physical Activity Plan Coordinating Committee announced they have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding recommitting the organizations to work together to further federal support for physical activity initiatives.

“The Coordinating Committee is pleased to continue its work with NCPPA to promote the National Physical Activity Plan and to advocate implementation of the plan and its sector strategies,” said Russ Pate, chairman of the National Physical Activity Plan Coordinating Committee.

“The Coalition is very happy to renew our agreement with the National Physical Activity Plan Coordinating Committee and to recommit ourselves to advancing federal policy support of programs to expand access and increase opportunities for physical activity for all Americans “said NCPPA Executive Director Melissa Merson after the agreement was signed.

Under the new Memorandum of Understanding, NCPPA will be responsible for advocacy and public policy initiatives in support of the National Physical Activity Plan and for coordinating communications promoting the plan.

The coordinating committee will retain overall responsibility for the plan, for evaluating and updating the plan, and for fundraising activities in support of the plan.
