NCPPA Welcomes New Member National Academy of Sports Medicine
posted 2010-01-05

NCPPA is very  pleased to introduce  the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM),as its newest leadership level member.  Since 1987, the Academy has been a global leader in providing evidence-based certifications and advanced credentials to health and fitness professionals.  In addition to its NCCA-accredited fitness Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) certification, NASM offers a progressive career track with access to Advanced Specializations, Continuing Education courses, and accredited Bachelor and Master Degree programs. The NASM educational continuum is designed to help today’s health and fitness professional enhance their career while empowering their clients to live healthier lives.

The Academy became interested in NCPPA upon learning that the Coalition will be spearheading and leading the implementation of the nation's first National Physical Activity Plan.  “The creation of an executable National Physical Activity Plan (NPAP) could not have come at a better time,” said Dr. Micheal Clark, NASM chief executive officer.  “As the instances of chronic disease and obesity continue to rise, we are pleased to contribute to the creation of the NPAP and now look forward to joining NCPPA and its partners in developing implementation strategies that make this historic National Physical Activity Plan a reality for all American.”    For more information on NASM, please visit their website at www.nasm.org.
