Nominations for Obesity Prevention Initiatives: Active Transportation Initiatives
posted 2011-01-14

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity is seeking nominations of initiatives that address obesity through  increased physical activity, but which have not already undergone a rigorous evaluation of effectiveness. We are especially interested in programs and policies that address low-income populations and ethnic groups that experience higher rates of obesity.

The focus area specific to physical activity is Active Transportaion.  Specifically, active transporation initiatives encourage active transport (e.g. walking, bicycling) by promoting a supportive infrastructure for leisure or commute activities in multiple settings.  They may be accomplished by expanding, subsidizing, educating, promoting or increasing the availability and access to walking or bicycling.

The extended deadline for submitting nominations is January 28, 2010. To share your notable practices with us, visit www.zoomerang.com/Survey/WEB22BK2CHY6U6/ or complete the attached nomination form and provide it to: Kari Cruz (kcruz@icfi.com, phone: 404-321-3211, fax: 404-321-3688). Please feel free to contact Kari Cruz (kcruz@icfi.com; (404) 321-3211) with any questions.
